The firm is led by Oscar Garcia, a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in life sciences. Our Story
GD Partners was founded in 2021, building on more than a decade of personal investing and two decades of hands-on experience in the medical device industry. What began as a personal passion for backing exceptional founders has grown into a firm focused on supporting bold innovation across healthcare and life sciences.

Oscar Garcia
Founder & Managing Partner
Oscar Garcia is an accomplished entrepreneur and investor with a strong background in engineering and business, bringing over 20 years of experience in the life sciences industry. Oscar has been part of several medical device start-up companies, including a vascular robotic company with an acquisition exit of $1.1 billion US dollars.

​Oscar Garcia is the Founder and Managing Partner at GD Partners, a Boston-based venture capital firm focused on investing in life science companies that are transforming healthcare through innovative technologies. He is also the Founder and President of QES Medical, a consulting firm, founded in 2009, that serves the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors.
​
Oscar holds an Industrial Engineering degree from INTEC University, a Graduate Certificate in Business from Salem State University, an Executive Education Certificate in Family Office Wealth Management, an Executive Education Certificate in Private Equity and Venture Capital, and an Alternative Investments Certificate, all from Harvard Business School.

GD Partners Funds
The GD Partners Funds offer accredited investors, family offices, and institutional LPs access to a concentrated portfolio of high-potential, early-stage companies in healthcare and frontier innovation.

The funds are designed for those seeking meaningful exposure to transformative startups without investing on a deal-by-deal basis.

1) GD Partners HealthTech Seed Fund
​
Focused on early-stage healthcare startups at the intersection of AI, medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health, the Seed Fund partners with founder-driven teams to scale high-impact technologies. Targeting 20–30 companies, the fund deploys initial checks at the Series Seed or early Series A stage, with selective follow-on capital for top-performing portfolio companies.​​​

2) GD Partners HealthTech Institutional Fund

Designed for later-stage healthcare companies, the Institutional Fund focuses on companies with Series A–B traction. It supports a concentrated portfolio of 15–20 companies, providing capital, operational guidance, and strategic support, with selective follow-on capital reserved for top-performing portfolio companies to drive continued growth.​​

GD Partners Fund Structure Overview

LP Investment Range: $10,000 – $3,000,000 per investor (typical commitment: $50,000)

Ways to Invest: Cash, trusts, entities, and self-directed retirement accounts

Fees: 2% annual management fee over the fund’s 10-year life

Profit Share (Carry): 80/20 split after return of invested capital to LPs (see fund subscription documents for full details)

Capital Calls: Funds are called as investments are made; no off-cycle or unexpected calls

Deployment Timeline: Initial investments over 12–18 months, with follow-on investments over an additional 6–12 months

Liquidity: Distributions occur as portfolio companies exit; no additional fees beyond the stated life of the fund

Retirement Accounts: Eligible self-directed IRAs and other retirement accounts are welcome​
